We took a draft house plan to Dave and his designer turned it into our unique home. As the build progressed, we made a few changes to the design which were never an issue and Dave and his team ensured all necessary approvals were obtained and the changes made seamlessly. Dave was personally involved in all stages of the construction and through his extensive experience was able to offer valuable advice and fine tune aspects of the build. There were no unpleasant surprises – Dave was very upfront on timing and costs, and never made assumptions on what we might want if there was a need to change anything. He always checked in with us before proceeding with work.

We also found Dave to be very flexible throughout the build, accommodating the inclusion of a pool and landscaping and ensuring that all aspects were coordinated. Dave clearly had very good relationships established with the range of tradespeople used to build our home and without exception, all the tradespeople were very happy to talk directly with us and discuss any issues they came across.

Covid 19 restrictions commenced part way through construction which, coupled with us living in Canberra, presented some challenges. However, Dave and his team made everything come together easily. Dave’s open and honest communication style, regular meetings, on-site visits where possible, phone calls and photos, ensured we were always kept up to date with progress.

Dave and his team delivered a beautiful home of excellent quality, and we couldn’t be happier.

Our decision to build a house in Vincentia while living and working in Canberra meant we wanted to find a builder with local expertise who we could trust to deliver a high quality home for our retirement. From our first meeting with David we were confident we had found the right team. David is passionate about his profession, his reputation for quality, and his team’s workmanship. David always listened to us, explained every step in a way that was easy to understand, and treated us with respect. We had a clear idea of the qualities we wanted in a home, and David’s very first design exactly nailed our brief. So much so, that we made very few alterations at all, and none to the actual layout. David’s process of working through our design, understanding our needs, and guiding us through additional details ensured that we always knew what we were getting, and that we clearly understood of the costs at every stage. There were no surprises.

Through David’s guidance and expertise our new home emerged from vision to reality. We were restricted in site visits by work commitments and COVID-19 lockdowns, so good communication was paramount. Weekly updates, regular correspondence from the office staff, photos and phone calls from site supervisors and key meetings with David on site made the process so much easier and less stressful.

We have now been in our beautiful home for 18 months.

Coming from Sydney we looked at various display homes and project builders in the area but we found David Reid Homes and did not look at any further.

Our meetings with David were a joy, as he understood what we were looking for with design and features.

There was never any pressure from David ( not like some builders we had met). He made us feel at ease and the respect was mutual.

The travelling back and forth between Sydney and Nowra presented no problem for David as he made the appointments to see him around our availability.

His staff, at the office and on site, were a pleasure to deal with as nothing was too much of a problem to all concerned.

During construction we were always kept informed of what was happening also we had fortnightly meetings on site with David and his construction team.

We did change the plans a couple of times but once again David was more than happy to accommodate our needs and also offer his advice when we needed it.

David and his building team did go out of their way to make sure that our concerns were always met and even went beyond to assist with a few extras which were most appreciated.

At construction end naturally there were few minor items that had to be rectified. ( which we were made aware of) David and his team made sure that all were done without any inconvenience to us.

We would have no hesitation in recommending David Reid Homes, that is David personally and his staff, to anyone who is thinking of building their new home. You will be more than satisfied with the overall workmanship and finish.

We write to express our complete satisfaction in our dealings with David and Jo Reid and all of their staff at David Reid Homes, Nowra. Our entire experience was positive in every respect. David and his staff were entirely open and honest in their dealings with us, realistic and accurate in their estimates. We approached the task of building a new house with considerable trepidation, but looking back we had nothing to worry about.

The two pieces of advice given to anyone wanting to build a house are firstly, “Talk to more than one builder” secondly, “Ask for references”. We totally disregarded this advice and just went with David Reid Homes and we never once regretted our decision. We found the team to be highly professional and extraordinarily proud of their product. We were encouraged to be closely involved in the design phase and any requests were always taken into account. After a long council approval process due to the difficult nature of the site the build itself went smoothly. The weekly email updates were informative and accurate and the fortnightly site meetings a chance to review progress and also resolve any issues or capitalise on any potential design enhancements.

David Reid and his site managers, Fabian Witenden and David Lewis, were always contactable and responsive to any concerns or questions. Any additional costs were always discussed upfront and agreed to before execution resulting in no additional cost surprises. The final product is an extremely well built and beautifully custom design house that sits well on a difficult site. David and his team should be proud of it as are we – the lucky owners.

Our finished home is beyond expectations!

David, Jo and their team turned our fragmented ideas into a home for our dreams to live. Every meeting with Dave, Jo and Fabian proved that our goals and vision were more important to them than a package deal or sale. Although we could have chosen an ‘off the shelf package’ Dave not only supported every choice we made but also provided a professional designer to assist us and then brought the whole package together.

Our finished home is beyond expectations. We are most proud of the features and inclusion we designed ourselves, flooring, tiles, niches, folding windows, cavity doors, which other builders would make a difficulty, but every day we appreciate the quailty and design elements of our David Reid home, from the earthworks to make our block just right to the raised ceilings, fully waterproofed wet areas, exceptional painting finishes and the precision carpentry.

We decided to build rather than buy to have exactly the home we wanted but only David Reid could provide this. As our only building experience the anticipated stress just wasn’t there, instead every stage of the build was a pleasure. Even the theft on our site which reached front page news was handled in the most professional and reassuring manner. We have trusted David Reid homes with our sanity, security and life savings and have been greatly rewarded.

The best answers we gave friends that asked about David Reid Homes. Who long did the build take? “As long as necessary so that we could live here for the rest of our lives, every delay was explained and we moved in 5 months after signing contracts”. How much did it cost? “About $50,000 more than we budgeted and $100,000 less than it’s worth.

In 2014, after researching many project homes and other builders, we called in to Dave’s office and were extremely impressed from our first discussion. After talking with some of Dave’s clients and looking at their homes, we commenced our first build with David Reid Homes, which was completed in 2015. We have now recently moved into our second build with them and have been absolutely thrilled with the high-quality, finished product on both occasions.

During the design process, Dave provided invaluable advice to improve the aesthetic and functionality of the home. During construction, Dave and the team were always available to speak with regarding any issues or advice required. Having the ability to meet with Dave regularly on-site is particularly valuable and much appreciated, as were the regular updates from all of the team members.
Our recent project was a knockdown/rebuild, completed during Covid lockdowns, material shortages/availability issues, together with months and months of excessive rain that severely hampered the construction industry generally, but Dave’s organisational skills came to the fore and kept the build on track.

A big thank you to Dave, Jo and the team and special thanks to Site Supervisor Steve Crumpton, who was on-site on a daily basis, keeping the project ticking along smoothly and was available to answer questions and provide advice at any time.
